I just remembered your dad was from Germany and I was spoken to in German the other day and I didn't understand a word of it.

It was just curiosity.

As you know, I was never all that fond of my father and for the few years he was actually around he refused to speak to your grandmother or I in anything but German. For that reason I never held on very tightly to it as a language after he was gone and certainly had no desire to pass on a language which I always saw less of a form of communication and more as a burden forced upon others.

Well, I based all my parenting on not being him so I suppose it wasn't all bad.

That not-Klaus parenting style seems to be successful with all his offspring who have offspring.

Oh god, I hope Uncle Jeremy never procreates...
